It was a smelly, hot, summer day in South Philadelphia, I was a wide eyed child at the age of 21. I was visiting some old friends for the weekend and was exploring the city a bit. I went into a clothing store to cool off after an amusing stretch of bar hops ordering a “lager”. That’s when I saw it… something I hadn’t seen before in my Northern Virginia home… it was a Jeremy Fish t-shirt. JEREMY FISH! I was such a huge fan of his artwork that I didn’t care how much the shirt cost (it was $40…). Funny enough they didn’t even have my size. I got whatever size they had with the intention of framing it like a stretched canvas when I got home. That $40 treasure still sits above me at this moment in my home office as I write this post. Jeremy Fish if you aren’t familiar, is an amazingly talented American artist based currently out of San Francisco. His illustration work was a major game changer for me when I was coming up in the art world.
That all being said, he’s just come out with a really amazing set of pieces for Element Skateboards that I think are really great! The decks have the standard of awesome that comes with all of Jeremy Fish’s work. I find the pieces to be mind blowing when you move in for the details and super fun when you set back and appreciate.
Here is my favorite… I think… I like them all. [2020 UPDATE: Unfortunately, they’ve since taken down this collection on the Element site.]
