10 Steps to a Perfect Email Marketing System

Email marketing is a great way to get the word out to your customers about new events, offers, or products. Not only does it help generate engagement with your audience, it creates a sense of community among your customers and strengthens your brand. Here are the ten steps to a perfect email marketing system.

1. Make it Easy

You can’t have email marketing without an email list. Make it easy for people to sign up for newsletters and promotions by making it visible on every page on your site and across your social media accounts.

2. Don’t Be Sneaky

Be upfront about what people are signing up for. Are you offering special discounts for subscribers? Providing engaging content on the industry? Let people know what they get when the subscribe to your lists

3. Incentivize Your Content

If you aren’t already offering special incentive to subscribers, you may consider including it in the future. This can range from quarterly coupons to gated content only subscribers can access. People love being part of a special group, and it’s a great way to encourage people to sign up.

4. Know Your Audience

And give them what they find valuable. Content drives email marketing and keeps your audience interested. If you aren’t providing quality, relevant content, you will lose subscribers. On the other hand, interesting content will not only keep current subscribers, but will increase the likeliness that your customers spread the word for you.

5. Keep it Simple

When it comes to content, people like to feel connected to a person, not just a brand. Keep things simple and conversational. You may consider signing off each email with a person’s name rather than the company name.

6. Use Graphics

Images are fun and engaging for audiences. No one wants to read a wall of text, no matter how interesting the content is. Use images to appeal to peoples’ visual nature, but be sure no important messaging is only mentioned in an image in case users don’t enable images on their email.

7. Don’t Overblast

Frequency plays a big role in a successful email marketing system. There is such a thing as too much communication, and you don’t want to become synonymous with spam. Make sure your regulating how often you send out information. Once a week is more than enough to keep your audience engaged.

8. Timing is Everything

Send time can be extremely important when it comes to email performance. Test the waters and send emails on different days and times each week to find what has the best reaction from your audience. Use this information to inform your future emails.

9. Use it to Your Advantage

There are dozens of email marketing tactics and styles. Regardless of the tactics you use, email marketing is a great tool to build strong consumer relationships. Be sure you are using it to your advantage and reflecting your company style.
