Matt Thompson Branding
From Logos to Website
Matt Thompson is a corporate learning and development professional in the D.C. area. He recently approached Metro Nova Creative and asked if I could design a personal brand for him in order to set himself apart in the job market. I, of course jumped, on board immediately. In addition to a personal brand, Matt also needed a brand specific for consulting practices he offered within his field. Then, he needed a website to promote his new brand, his knowledge and skills to the work force. Now that everything is wrapped up, I just wanted to share the project with you guys!
Whenever a logo is being designed, I always start with a sketch. Sometimes, it’s just a few and I can get the idea I need, sometimes it’s days and pages and too many. This one consisted of a line drawing of an owl which I came up with pretty quickly and it seemed to work.
After sketching out some ideas, I moved right into scanning and digitizing. Here’s where I’ll find out if the concept is actually going to work. I have to think about all of the different places the logo will be used; websites, social media, paper printing, promotional printing, signs and the list goes on. So here’s the logo after I took it into Illustrator and cleaned everything up, turning it into a final draft.
Now I also had to create the logo for the consultation end of Matt’s branding. Here’s a look at that one too. First the sketch, then the final.
After all of the logos were finished up, I moved onto the website for Matt. I’ve attached some screen shots of the site below for you to see how we implemented the brand, but you can also see the site live here. Matt also had some new photos taken by one of our photography partners, Jaime Faure Photography
