The Atlanta Hawks New Logo – And chicken wing emporium.
So on Monday the Atlanta Hawks unveiled a new set of logos and…a new name? The team will now be known as the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club, which sounds more like a soccer team than a basketball team to me. They will maintain the use of their current “Pac-Man” logo but with the already tired circle vintage design which we posted about from the 76ers earlier (also used by the Bucks).
I’m not saying I don’t like the circle vintage logo design, I just wish teams weren’t making it their main logo. I see this as a trend…like a season long #TBT…but I would just prefer that these teams focus on a long-lasting identity instead of one that will be unwelcome in a couple of years. Instead, the NBA should do a league wide throwback jersey for special games which would incorporate new logos for the teams that pay homage to the 60’s and 70’s. The NHL does an amazing job with their throwback jersey game, especially in the Winter Classic (my personal favorite being the Redwings/Maple Leafs game from a couple of years back) (also go CAPS).
All that aside, let’s take a look at the new (and improved?) Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club!
What happened with that secondary guy? Is that their chicken wing chain?
Seriously… Are the employees going to yell out “WELCOME TO HAWKS! THE CHICKEN IS KICKIN'” when you walk in?
