Have you created a customized HTML email in Gravity Forms, but you find that the email has a whole lot of white space at the top? Maybe the email has extra line breaks you can’t explain, or you need your table to output close together, and it’s outputting with extra space you can’t explain.

Well, there are two ways to eliminate white space at the top of an email sent in gravity forms: turning off conditional formatting and minifying your HTML. Let’s talk about both:

Learn how to eliminate white space at the top of an email sent in Gravity Forms

Open the Notifications Tab in Gravity Forms

Gravity Forms Notifications

Navigate to Gravity Forms, and choose Notifications from the menu.

Turn Off Conditional Formatting

Gravity Form Disable Auto Formatting

Scroll to the bottom of the Notifications page, and you’ll see an option to turn off Auto-formatting. Ticking this box tells Gravity forms to stop inserting extra paragraph markers. This might solve the problems with white space at the top of emails sent by Gravity Forms if you if you are inputting HTML code. For example, a customer may need data to be sent in a table or other special format, so you are using the Text tab to customize emailed content. Ticking this box should eliminate those extra paragraph tags. But if it doesn’t, try the next method.

If All Else Fails, Minify your HTML

HTML Code Minify

Copy and paste your HTML code into an HTML minifier like the one at https://minifycode.com/html-minifier/, shown above. The minifier will take your nicely formatted HTML and minify it, or eliminate any extra line breaks and white space.

Copy the long string of HTML, and paste it into the text tab of the Message field in your Gravity Form.
